Melanie Harvey ~ Vice Chair of Governors

My name is Melanie Harvey. I am married with two grown-up daughters. I have spent most of my professional life in Coventry and I am passionate about every child accessing quality education and achieving their potential. For thirteen years, I worked at Hearsall Primary School, teaching across the primary age range but with a keen focus on the early years. Then I spent twelve years working for the local authority as an adviser for Early Years, supporting schools across Coventry in developing and sustaining high quality early years education.

I first came to Joseph Cash as local authority governor and am now a co-opted governor. Currently I am vice-chair of governors. I have high expectations of and aspirations for the educational experience children have at Joseph Cash and the progress that they make during the time at our school. I am proud of the children and the staff of Joseph Cash, what they are doing and achieving, and do all I can to support them.

Dave Simpson ~ LA Governor

My name is Dave Simpson and I have been a local authority governor at Joseph Cash for about 3 years.

I retired 5 years ago after 27 years with the Education /Children's Services department of the City Council where I worked initially as a governing body clerk and then providing more general administrative support to a number of groups including the departmental leadership team and head teacher groups.

Before that I spent 3 years as a mature student at Coventry Polytechnic (now Coventry University) studying for a history and politics degree, having left school at 16 and working for a small tool merchants company in Birmingham, the city of my birth, for about 14 years. I particularly enjoy watching most sport especially football, walking, listening to music and gardening.

I have worked at Joseph Cash for 2 years now and I have been a governor since September 2016.

Previously I worked as a co-director of a construction company for 10 years. I love working at the school and I feel privileged to play a part on the Governing Body; I think is very important to the schools development. It is great to be able to see all the children progress and flourish.

Stepan Heghoyan ~ Parent Governor

My name is Stepan Heghoyan and I have recently joined as a Parent Governor at Joseph Cash.

I applied to become a governor because I have a young son at the school and also that I would like to play a part in helping develop an increasingly successful school.

I own a small, highly successful business in Coventry city centre which I established in 2009. I stay fit by cycling to and from work, and when time allows I like to take my son swimming, to the cinema and to parks, as well as supporting him with his academic progress.

I have 15 years’ experience in secondary education, and I hope to use this to help support the school in raising standards and ensure that Joseph Cash is a place that children enjoy and where they love to be.
