5GG SEPTEMBER LEARNING IN ACTION

ENGLISH

This month we have begun reading The Last Chance Hotel. We are currently on chapter 13 and can’t wait to read more. We have looked at the character Seth Seppi and written some super character descriptions of him. We are now moving onto looking at the features of Newspaper Report Writing – we have predicted something bad is going to happen in the hotel that will hit the headlines– will we be correct I wonder?

“I think Dr Thelonious is going to help Seth because he is the only person who seems to care for him, said Alyssa.”

“I think someone is going to die because they spotted a luciole in the kitchen which means there will be a death,” said Koshan.

What do you think might happen in the Last Chance Hotel?

MATHS

This month we have been learning about Place Value. We have tried different strategies to add and subtract numbers. We’ve also had chance to practise our times tables and arithmetic skills – we are going to challenge ourselves to know up to the 12x tables by Christmas!

Here is some of our super learning:

SCIENCE

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU…

Science has been super exciting this half term! We had an amazing science workshop where we got to see some unbelievable experiments. We are learning about Forces and trying to improve our scientific inquiry skills. It’s all about the Why? What if?

CREATIVE CURRICULUM

We are focussing on Crime and Punishment during Tudor times and to kick off the topic we completed a murder mystery. We had to solve the clues to work out who the killer was.

“It was Penelope Lila…Our group was correct!” said Rohan.

Our topic is ‘Off with their Heads’ and we have begun by looking at the history or the Tudors – focussing on Henry VIII and his wives. We know that some gory facts are going to be coming next month! Who will make it alive?

PE, YOGA AND FOREST SCHOOL

We have done so many amazing lessons this month. Just look at the pictures below:

“I really like that we are doing yoga,” said Aneesa. “It makes me feel really calm and peaceful.”
