As our first half-term is over, it has been so wonderful to see al of the amazing learning that has been happening at Joseph Cash. Last week, I had the privileged to spend time in each class, celebrating their English successes.
Wow! What an impressive first 'Talk 4 Writing' Unit. I loved coming to listen to the children retell the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. The children performed with such confidence and expression.
Take a look here to see some of the children performing their story
Nursery and Reception have been busy mark making too. Take a look at their fabulous writing:
Key Stage One
The fun doesn't end in EYFS, as Year 1 and 2 have also been busy practising their T4W Units. Year 1 had a go at writing the whole of 'The Little Red Hen' story this week on their special Pink, Publishing Paper. They have been amazing at retelling this story and are learning all about capital letters and full stops.
Year 2 have come to the end of their 'Little Red Riding Hood' story too. Mrs Nettey celebrated this with a special trip to the library to experience 'Now Press Play'. The children (and staff) put on their headphones and were transported to the scary forest.
Alexis: I've had the best time EVER!
Key Stage Two
The children in Year 5 and 6 have started a very special writing workshop with the very famous Pie Corbett. Each Monday, the children have the opportunity to learn alongside and interactive with hundreds of other children from all over the country. They are learning how to use language to create affect and improve their writing.
Zohan: He teaches us how to use really exciting vocabulary and challenges us to think of better sentences.
In addition, Year 5 have been studying a very special murder mystery text by Nicki Thornton. Joseph Cash have a very special relationship with Nicki and we are even featured in her second book! Mrs Nettey was really impressed in how excited the children were to write. Check out some of last weeks masterpieces:
R in Year 5 has used this learning to write her own very special Newspaper Report. Follow the link to hear her read it:
