Competition Time!

The winner of last week's Seesaw competition was...nobody :-(

Unfortunately, nobody completed the learning and shared the correct answer. Never mind, I get to eat last week's chocolates!

I've left the competition on Seesaw for you to have another go at it. Don't forget, the first person to share the completed learning and the correct answer will win a goodie bag prize from me. I wonder who it will be?

If you need help logging onto Seesaw, send a message to school@josephcash.coventry.sch.uk or phone the school office so I can help you.

Monday 13th July

So here we are in the final week of year 3...It's not the last week of the year that we were hoping for which has made me feel rather sad. However, I have loved being your teacher this year and I want you to take a moment to reflect on the time we've spent in school together and think about some of the fun things we did.

Mummifying tomatoes...making spark videos...our trips to the pantomime and Think Tank...receiving letters from Pharaohs and princesses...

I'd love it if you could let me know by Seesaw, twitter or email what your favourite memory of year 3 is.

Shout out time!

What are you looking forward to being able to do in the next few weeks? I'm looking forward to being able to go to the cinema and being able to take my daughter out for a hot chocolate and cake treat at Costa!

Friday 5th June

Morning everyone!

Our Zoom assembly starts at 9:30 this morning - the details have been emailed to your parents. Hopefully I can make everything work and we'll have a lovely opportunity to see each other!

I'll be checking out your learning on AR, TTRS and Spelling Shed this afternoon and getting some shout outs ready to share on Monday. I've had some fabulous learning sent to me this week and I've really enjoyed seeing it all, well done to all of you who have shared it.

I wonder if any of you will spot your learning during our assembly?

See you soon on Zoom!

Thursday message from Mrs A

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a great week!

I can now announce that Isla was the winner of the class prize for the AR competition - she read double the number of words needed to achieve her target! I'm sure you agree this is a fantastic achievement and a well deserved prize winner.

Exciting News!

We are arranging a year 3 Zoom assembly for Friday morning this week, ask you parents to keep an eye on their emails for details of how you can join in.  It will be fantastic to see you all.

I've had some fantastic learning shared with me on Seesaw this week, it's really great to see all of your projects from this week, well done to everyone who has completed it!

Don't forget to keep reading and practising your times tables and spellings. I'll be looking to see how you've all been getting on ready for our shout out on Friday.

To go along with your water project, I've found some instructions on how to make a boat out of a piece of paper! You could get everyone in your family to make one and have a boat race!

I've also added some activities to seesaw for you to have a go at.

Hope to see you on Friday :-)

Take care for now,

Mrs A

Monday message from Mrs A

Morning everyone!

Hope you all had a relaxing break away from learning, I know I did!

You've probably heard that some children will be returning to school this week - those in early years, year 1 and year 6. This means that I will be in school teaching some year 1 children (which is a big change for me!). Because I will be in school teaching, I won't be setting your learning everyday. That doesn't mean you'll get away without doing any learning though! Mrs Smith has been planning some exciting weekly projects for you to do. This week's project is all about water, you'll see it underneath my message.

However, please remember that I am still you class teacher and will be there for you if you need me. I'll still be posting messages for you on here and I'll still post some things for you to do on Seesaw.

We will also have the TTRS battles every Tuesday and of course, I'll be keeping an eye on how you're doing on AR and Spelling Shed.

PLEASE keep tweeting your learning to me and sharing it by email and seesaw. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE seeing what you've been up to. Hannah, I've loved your messages to me on seesaw during the holiday, they've really made me smile.

Instead of doing daily shout outs, I'll do a weekly one and share it each Monday, so keep that learning coming!

I'll be phoning you all today, so keep a listen out for the phone.

Take care for now,

Mrs A x

This week's learning for 3KA - Water Project - Week beginning 1st June

water project

Friday 22nd May

Good morning everyone.

Today is the last day of this half term, so next week we have got a week off from learning and some time to relax! I'll still be checking my emails and seesaw though, so feel free to send me a message to let me know what you're up to over the week off.

I sent a presentation to the other teachers today telling them about how we're using seesaw and all about your super learning. They were very impressed and asked me to tell you all how brilliant your learning has been!

I thought I'd share a couple of videos my children made today. Lydia made a video about Sea Cucumbers after reading the article about Sunfish: Sea cucumbers

Thomas made a video about our family pets! I think my husband is being mean because he won't let me have a new kitten - he says we have enough pets already, what do you think? My pets

Today's learning

Maths

Some of you have told me the maths learning on the three and four times table has been a bit easy! Today's learning is all about the 8 times table, so maybe you'll find it a little bit more challenging! Maths 22nd May

There is also a maths quiz for you to try today: Maths quiz

English

We have been off school now for 7 weeks (9 if we include the Easter holidays). This is probably the longest amount of time you’ve had away from school since you started in reception.

Read this article to see how one family have recorded their thoughts and feelings during this time: Time capsule article

Why not create your own time capsule to record your thoughts and feelings?

Use ideas from the article to help you or explore the resources I’ve found.

A Letter to my future self     Objects to put in a time capsule   Time Capsule Activity Booklet

It'd be great to see some of your learning on Seesaw.

And don't forget to complete the assignment on Spelling Shed.

Science

Here is some science learning for you to try: Science 22nd May

I have also added your science and maths learning onto Seesaw, it'd be great to see you completing it on there!

Don't forget that the AR competition will come to an end next week. Who will win the class prize? Why not get busy reading over the half term holiday to make sure you're in with a chance of being the top reader in our class and winning a visit from me bringing you a book, cake and hot chocolate!

Have a great half term break,

Take care,

Mrs A x

Thursday 21st May

Morning... hope you all had a good day yesterday and enjoyed some of that lovely sunshine! I wanted to laze around in the garden and do nothing, but I was busy doing my own learning and trying to persuade my children to do theirs! You might think it's easy to get them to do their learning because I'm a teacher...but it's not! My children are just like you and want to spend their time playing on the Switch or in the garden and hate it when I tell them they can't!

So many of you took the maths and English quizzes yesterday it's fantastic, well done!

A little bit of a moan...

There are still LOTS of you who haven't taken a quiz yet on AR. I know it's tricky to motivate yourself and some of you might be having problems accessing the internet, but you MUST try to keep up with reading. You had all made so much progress on AR in school, I'd hate for that progress to be lost while we're not at school. Don't forget the competition - the top reader in each class at the end of May will have a visit from me and win a book, cake and hot chocolate! You can click on the Online Bookshelf to find free books to read which have all got AR quizzes on them. Who will be the first to quiz today?

Today's Learning

Here's your maths learning for today: Maths 21st May Your maths learning is also on Seesaw.

Here is your English learning for today:

Let’s find out about this rather strange creature: The Axolotl (which reminds me of a Pokémon character!) The Axlotl and then complete the activities below.

Don't forget to complete today's assignment on Spelling Shed.

Spanish

Watch the video to learn how to say the colours of the rainbow in Spanish:

Can you draw and colour your own rainbow, adding the Spanish names for the colours?

There is also a Spanish word search for you to try on our Seesaw page.

Have a great day!

Wednesday 20th May

Good morning!

Even though we didn't win the Rock Battle on TTRS yesterday, it was great to see Keturah, Isla, Miguel, Riley, Bejan, Jay and Liam all joining in. Well done to them.

It was also lovely to chat with some of you and your parents yesterday. I'll be making more phone calls throughout the week so listen out for me!

Good news! As a class you have managed to read over a million words on Accelerated Reader. What a great achievement! There are classes in years 4 and 5 that haven't achieved this yet, so I'm really proud of you. It was also fantastic to see three children from 3KA in this week's AR word count top ten! Well done to Isla, Bejan and Riley for this achievement. I wonder how many more of you can make it into the top ten next week?

English

We've come to the end of our learning on Iron Man - I hope you've enjoyed it? It's one of my favourite books. When I was at primary school, I can remember our Headteacher reading it to us in assembly.

Morning Everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend. I thought we could start the day off with a song to get us practising for our assembly later on! We might not all be together at school at the minute, but I wanted to remind you all that I'm still your class teacher and still here for you whenever you may need me.

Zoom Assembly

At 12:15 today, there will be a Zoom Assembly just for KS2 children (years 3, 4, 5 and 6). Your grown ups should have received a message about how you can join in with the assembly. I'll hopefully see some of you there later.

We know how hard it is to be active while you're stuck indoors. It's so tempting to spend your time playing video games and watching TV. Admit it though, even that can get a bit boring sometimes, can't it? Have a look at the website for lots of fun ideas you can do inside. Add a photo or voice message to share with me what you've done.

We're holding an assembly for KS2 on Monday at 12:15. Your parents should receive the details of how to join the assembly either by text or by email - so ask them to look out for it and hopefully I'll see you there on Monday (well through the magic of the computer anyway!)

Tuesday 12th May - Mrs Adams

Good morning everyone! Sorry for the delay with the update, we were having a few technical issues!

It was so good to see some of you during our assembly yesterday, it was lovely to see lots of smiley faces. I know some of you were disappointed that you couldn't join in, but don't worry, there will be an assembly next Monday at 12:15 just for KS2 children so hopefully more of you will be able to join in then. Details of how to take part will be sent to your parents.

TTRS

It's Tuesday so it must be time for this week's TTRS rock battle between 3AF and 3KA! Can we win again this week? I'm sure we can! Remember though, we're BETTER TOGETHER, so the more of you that join in, the stronger chance we have of winning!

Exciting news!

You can now share your home learning with me on Seesaw. It works exactly the same way as it did when we were in school, you'll be able to add photos of your learning and make videos and voice recordings. The only difference is that you can only see your own learning. Any pictures you add to Seesaw can now only be seen by me, so your parents don't need to worry about your photo being on the internet. The class Seesaw page is totally private.

Monday 11th May

Morning everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend. Did you do anything at home to celebrate VE Day? We had a picnic in our front garden, some of our neighbours joined in too. It was fun having a chat across the road and getting to know people we don't often speak to. We even had a sneaky ice cream from the ice cream van that stopped by!

Did you see the tweet last week? We're having an online assembly today at 11:30 via Zoom... your parents should have received a message about how you can join in. Hope to see you there!

Here's today's shout outs:

Spelling Shed Hive game: Keturah, Riley and Taylor-Mae joined in with this. We're going to make it a weekly thing, so make sure you're ready for it this Thursday.

Hi Everyone, hope you're all ok?

It was lovely talking to some of you and your parents today. It's so good to hear that you're all doing well. If I haven't managed to speak to you or your grown ups recently, keep listening for the phone as I'll be making more phone calls after the weekend.

Today's shout outs go to:

Spelling Shed: Keturah made the spelling shed top 20 this week - a massive well done to her. Isla has also been busy on spelling shed. I wonder if anyone else can make the top 20 next week?

AR: Well done to Chriss for taking another 3 quizzes and Isla for taking another 2. Surely you two will be in the running for the class prize?

Morse code is a way of sending messages using a series of dots and dashes to represent letters. Have a look at the Morse Code alphabet shown below and the coded message. Can you crack the code to see what the message says? Can you write your own message using Morse Code for me to decipher? Send it to school@josephcash.coventry.sch.uk or post it on twitter, tagging @cashprimary.

I won't be sharing any learning on here tomorrow as we have a bank holiday (a day off from learning!) to celebrate VE Day.

Have a great weekend and I'll be back to share more learning with you on Monday. I'm looking forward to working out the secret messages you all send to me!

Take care,

Mrs A
